• Minimum Users: It’s typically for a minimum of 2 users but may still be worth it for solo users too.

If you’re a solo user, Plus might be enough for now, but Business does offer more advanced features, especially for research and team management.

The ChatGPT Upgrading Process

When you upgrade to ChatGPT Business, your old Plus account isn’t deleted, but your content moves into a new workspace. That’s where things can get confusing.

Here’s what to expect:

• Your projects and chats may take time to appear in the new workspace.

• If you used a different email or login method (like Apple or Google), the system might treat it as a separate account.

• If you’ve ever changed  your email address on your original account, you’re data migration may be effected.

• Projects and chat instructions don’t always migrate straight away.

• The workspace view looks different, and the “Personal” workspace disappears after a full merge.

If this happens, don’t panic. Log out, log back in, and check your workspace name in the bottom left corner. It should show your Business workspace name. If your projects still don’t appear, contact OpenAI support. They can sometimes re-link your data, but not always. Another reason to backup first.

Can You Go Back To ChatGPT Plus?

Yes, you can. If you ever decide Business isn’t right for you, you can cancel your workspace and return to Plus. Just remember that your Business projects won’t automatically move back. Save anything important first so you can upload it again later.

Will You Keep Your Data If You Switch Back To ChatGPT Plus?

Business and Plus store data separately. If you downgrade, your Business workspace data is kept for a limited time, but you’ll lose access to it unless you’ve saved copies. That’s why it’s essential to back up before making changes. So, don’t just switch back without considering this or you could loose valuable data. Moreover, you may want to consider pausing your plan rather than going back to ChatGPT plus.
